About this Webinar

About Webinar

Any HR professional knows that a major part of their responsibility is keeping the company’s employment files organized – for many legal reasons – but also because it helps to keep your operations going smoothly. An externally-driven audit by a government agency could result in dire consequences including fines, citations, and shutdowns. Without a system or organizing files followed up by regular internal audits of policies, procedures, and documentation, any well-intentioned HR department is at risk of driving a wedge into the ongoing operations of an entire company.

This course will give you a framework for auditing various areas of your HR department. Foundational topics include recordkeeping and employee-related retention systems; creating a practical and sensible plan for staying organized; and planning and conducting HR audits. We have added special topics important for most employers: auditing Form I-9s and FMLA procedures and documents.

Session Highlights

Upon course completion, you will be able to:

  • Assess and refine your records management policy and strategy
  • Describe and specify basic HR files and how to organize them
  • How to develop a plan for conducting regularly-scheduled audits of various HR files
  • How to define recommendations and take forward action on your ongoing HR procedures and files
  • Describe and conduct an audit of company Form I-9’s
  • Describe and conduct an audit of company FMLA documents and procedures

Why You Should Attend

If the idea of conducting audits of HR files seems daunting, then you won’t want to miss this session. In this practical webinar, you will learn about recordkeeping obligations imposed on employers by federal and state employment laws, glean best practices for conducting compliance audits, and consider strategies and tactics that will help your organization to stay ahead of compliance pitfalls.

With this information, you will gain confidence in your ability to plan and conduct internal audits of HR policies, procedures, and processes. As well, you will be armed with information that is actionable and that can keep your company from being cited, fined, or even shutdown due to non-compliance.
